Very often when we try to shoot a high-contrast scene, we have to witness blown-out highlights, flat shadows and sometimes both. Even though, we click pictures with perfect exposure, there tend to be some imperfections which don’t do justice to the quality of the pictures. This is where HDR comes into play. But, what exactly is HDR image processing ? HDR stands for “High Dynamic Range”. Dynamic range simply refers to the difference between the lightest light and the darkest dark one can capture in a photo. Once, the subject exceeds the camera’s dynamic range, the highlights tend to wash out white or the darks simply become big black blobs.
